Wauwatosa is moving its annual fireworks program to align with Tosa’s Night Out on August 7, 2024. This is only for 2024. The event will be held in Hart Park.
Why is Wauwatosa holding fireworks on a different day?
Wauwatosa hosts one of the largest parades in the State of Wisconsin. Additionally, our volunteer Civic Celebration Commission organizes activities that last until the late evening on July 4. It takes a large team of volunteer Police Reserves, sworn police officers, and other staff throughout the city to make these events possible.
Police Chief MacGillis explains, “This was a tough recommendation to make, but we had to put the interest of public safety first.” Moving the fireworks to Aug. 7 was his recommendation after realizing July is packed with huge events that require large police presence.
